James Pope – Podiatrist
James has been working in the podiatry industry since 2008 following the completion of his honour studies at Melbourne University. His honours thesis examined how different variables within the human body change during running, which highlights James’ passion for treating runners of all levels.
James provides a range of podiatry services with a particular interest in working closely with other health practitioners to strengthen, rehabilitate and help injured patients to be exercising pain free as soon as possible.
He has developed an interest in barefoot running and experimenting with different footwear, which he incorporates into his clinical work as well as his own training. He is also interested in using orthotics in cycling shoes and ski boots to improve performance. He has a broad knowledge of all sports and a particular interest in cricket, cycling, skiing, rugby union, soccer, AFL, hockey and all forms of running.
Although James specialises in sports based podiatry, he also works with diabetic patients, the elderly who may need assistance in caring for their feet or people with problematic nails and skin lesions. Special care is taken when working with all patients to ensure overall health of the foot and ankle.
James is the current podiatrist to the Melbourne Football Club and the Melbourne Victory, giving him exposure to elite athletes with high demands. He brings this experience to each and every patient, making him the best choice for sports podiatry in the Eastern suburbs.
